Detergents & Toxic Chemicals

Why should we replace harmful everyday products with toxic free products?

We are obsessed with scanning food labels for dodgy ingredients, but we are not too concerned with scanning labels of cleaning products, perfumes and creams etc. A lot of these highly reputable brand name products we use daily are not safe to use. This shows millions of people ignore the labels and automatically think these products will not do them any harm. If you use bleach or washing up liquid without using gloves, your hands will get dry within 2-4 minutes and then start peeling and cracking. This is someone with perfectly fine skin, just imagine someone with eczema on their hands did this.

You can go on relentlessly about scanning labels of detergents, food ingredients and that what concerns me the most. Products we need to use and rely on are not safe to use.

Here’s a list of products we use daily that contain toxic chemicals:

Creams – Would you be surprised if I told you most of the commercial creams that claim to control dry skin have toxic chemicals in them? No, because most answers we discover in this world, don't make any sense. Aqueous cream for example has Sodium Laurel Sulphate in it, which is used in car washes and toothpaste. Sodium Laurel Sulphate strips away the natural oils in your skin, which is outrageous! Doctors are prescribing this product and they should not prescribe them because people are over using Aqueous and becoming increasingly allergic to it. The Boots own brand of Aqueous cream doesn’t have any toxic chemicals or preservatives in them, and can be used in the bath. You can find a variety of creams in the Product Review section.

Toothpaste – There is enough fluoride in an average tube of toothpaste to poison a small child. Fluoride is lethal, and you should not use this chemical too frequently. This chemical will strip away dirt, but it will also strip away the protective mucus membranes in the mouth. You should only clean your teeth twice a day. You can get the Green People organic brand toothpaste or Dead Sea Spa Magik own brand for adults and children if your concerned about Fluoride.

Perfumes - Every time we spray perfume, we end up inhaling a whole range of harmful ingredients that can easily trigger of a Asthma attack and could be encouraging cancers. You don’t need to wear perfume everyday for work, just a roll-on under the armpits will do fine.

Make Up – Do women have to wear Make Up all the time? No, if you cleanse your face properly you don’t need a toner. Women are obsessed with their appearance, and they think they are doing their skin wonders buying all these lotions, but in fact it’s not doing their skin any favors. The more anti wrinkle cream you use, the older you will look in the long term. Cut back, and stay looking young!

Shaving – This is a major problem for men with facial Eczema. If you use a commercial brand, it strips away the natural oils in your skin and if you use an organic brand like “Green People” your face will sting due to the amount citrus acid they include. So, what can you use? I recommend using Lab Series For Men Mega Foam (read review)

Shampoo – This is exactly the same as the creams and lotions . Most commercial brands will actually make your scalp dryer after 20 minutes. Try having a short haircut to stop your scalp collecting dirt. If you are a woman or you desperately prefer your hair long, you should tie your hair back tightly to reduce the amount of dirt your hair collects. You should not wash your hair everyday, it’s important to allow your scalp to repair itself.

Bath – Whatever you do, don’t ever use bubble bath! This is probably the worst thing to do if you suffer from dry skin. You should use Oilatum Bath Formula in the bath. Take a bath two times a week for 10-15 minutes each.
