Chinese/Western Herbs

Herbal medicine is based all over the world, from Britain to South America and Asia. The aim of herbal medicine is to restore and stimulate the balance of the body.

What will happen?

When you have your first appointment, the practitioner makes a detailed report of you, by asking you a variety of questions concerning your current and past health problems and your dietary habits.

If you see a Chinese herbal practitioner, he/she will feel your pulse, check your tongue and you might have to do an urine sample. The practitioner will usually prescribe you raw herbs, which you need to boil for 40 mins and then drink. I need to warn you, the taste is disgusting! I cannot even describe the taste, that is how bad it is. I could not say if the treatment was affective because I threw the herbs away after the first drink.

If you do manage to drink the raw herbs, your second appointment will be in three weeks time, and he/she will review your progress and maybe adjust your treatment if the herbs aren't working.

Appointments cost between £40 - £60 depending on location. You will also have to pay an additional fee for the prescription.

Side affects?

  • Don't take any Chinese herbs if you are taking medicine that is prescribe by your local GP.
  • Some herbal medicines are made very poorly and can do serious harm to your health. Some creams actually contain steroids that aren't listed in the ingredients, beware and make sure you seek someone who is professionally qualified.
