Pollen Allergies, Hay Fever

Pollen allergies are mostly associated with Asthma and Hay Fever, but pollen can trigger Eczema flare-ups as well. You cannot get any peace during the year, can you? During winter, the combination of the central heating and cold blistering weather, will dry your skin. During the spring and summer, you suffer from itchy eyes and sneezing. What can you do?

Here's a list of tips on avoiding and controlling pollen allergies:

  • Wear sun glasses to protect your eyes.
  • Keep all windows closed.
  • Take a Antihistamine once a day, I highly recommend "Zirtek".
  • Eat foods and take supplements containing Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine.
  • Nasaleze is a natural hay-fever remedy. Once inhaled, it creates a film of mucus that provides an effective barrier against pollen. One squirt of Nasaleze in each nostril is said to give relief from hay fever for 12 hours or more.
  • Check www.pollenuk.com, for pollen count forecast for the next day.
  • Put some Vaseline inside each nostril to capture pollen.
  • Take off clothes before entering the bedroom.
  • Wash your hair before going to bed. Your pillow will collect pollen from your hair, which will result in potentially a sleepless night.
  • If you hang washing on the line, make sure you hang you're washing mid-morning and bring it in before early evening, otherwise you will bring plenty of pollen in the house.
  • Buy local honey and take 2-3 times daily on porridge.
  • Take a quick shower before you go to bed.
